    Join us for the very first evening of The Poetry Club — a new monthly gathering at BELLHAUS, launched together with the Finnish Southern Africa Cooperation Institute (FSAI).

    Namibia and Finland have been in conversation for more than a century and a half. This winter, that old friendship finds a new voice at our table. We are delighted to welcome our inaugural resident artist — the Helsinki-born poet, choreographer and jazz-dance artist Wilma-Emilia Kuosa — who will open the evening by performing a selection of the poetry she has written since arriving in Namibia this July.

    Then the evening becomes yours. The Poetry Club is a place to make new connections through poetry, over a warm supper, in the unpretentious spirit BELLHAUS holds dear — no expertise required, only curiosity and the pleasure of words spoken aloud. Bring your favourite poem (in English for this first night). You may read it yourself, or, if you'd rather listen than speak, Wilma-Emilia will be glad to perform it for you.

    Come for the poetry. Stay for the supper, the company, and the beginning of a community.

    The Evening's Supper

    Included with every ticket

    • Chicken Korma with Roasted Almonds — a gently spiced, creamy korma over fragrant basmati rice
    • Masala Chai — a milky, spiced black tea of cardamom, cinnamon and clove, mirroring the aromatics of the korma
    • Fresh Ginger Tea — freshly sliced ginger steeped with a touch of honey, its sharp bite cutting through the rich, nutty cream of the sauce

    • Bring: your favourite poem, in English
    • Ticket: N$680 per person, including supper
    • Thereafter: The Poetry Club returns every third Wednesday of the month, with a new theme each time

    Seats are limited and this first evening is intimate by design — booking ahead is essential.
