CALL FOR ART - ART FOR CUBA

CALL FOR ARTISTS
ART FOR CUBA
Art exhibition · 26 – 30 October 2026 · BELLHAUS Atelier & Galerie, 18 Bell Street, Windhoek
Your art. Their lives. Let's paint for LIFE.
Cuba is in crisis, and we need your help. Lives are being lost as power cuts and medicine shortages hit health centres across the island. We are calling on every Namibian artist to submit artwork to the Art for Cuba exhibition at BELLHAUS, Windhoek. Every artwork sold helps save lives.
Why now
People are dying while they wait for care. Cuba's fuel and energy crisis has left health centres in the dark for hours at a time. Operations are stopped midway. Vaccines and medicines spoil. Doctors have the skills but not the power or the supplies, and patients are paying with their lives.
We cannot wait, and neither can they. Every artwork sold buys medical supplies and solar kits that keep health centres running when the grid goes down. Your art can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.
Cuba never hesitated when Namibia needed help. Now we need you.
Why Namibia
Cuba stood with Namibia. Now Namibia stands with Cuba.
- At Cassinga on 4 May 1978, Cuban soldiers came to the defence of the refugee camp under air attack.
- Some 600 Namibian children who survived went on to study on Cuba's Isle of Youth, cared for by the Cuban people.
- Cuban soldiers fought beside Namibians at Cuito Cuanavale, opening the way to independence.
- Hundreds of Namibian doctors and nurses trained in Cuba, and Cuban health workers have served in the most remote corners of our country.
This exhibition is a thank-you from Namibian artists to a friend who gave so much.
