Art for Cuba Supper Club: An Evening of Food, Music, Poetry & Art
More than a supper club
One night of Art for Cuba Week brings everything together: six courses by Chef Siobhan Dammert, a performance by Tisha, poetry by Keith Vries, and the works of the Art for Cuba exhibition all around you.
Come for the table and stay for the stories.
Wander through the exhibition, Mojito in hand, and let our curator guide you through the stories behind the work. Discover what sparked each piece and what it carries. Hear why that colour, why that mark, why this moment deserved to be held still. And if you’re lucky, you may meet some of the artists themselves. Every work on these walls was made by a Namibian hand, reaching across an ocean in friendship.
Marvel at the work. Talk art late into the evening. Find the piece that won’t let you leave without it, and take it home knowing it’s doing good in the world.
Then sit down to six courses of Cuba as Namibia remembers it: plantain and black bean, slow-braised beef, the brightness of lime and the warmth of jerk spice, alongside samp, cassava and monkey orange from our own soil. Food is how we say what words can’t.
Let the music carry you between courses and the poetry hold the pauses. Raise a glass to old friends. For one night, feel the heart and soul that is Cuba, its rhythm, its generosity and its stubborn joy, here in Windhoek, among friends.
When Namibia needed friends, Cuba came. Now it is our turn.
Performance by Tisha
Soulstress with an Afro-infused heart
Tisha is a 22-year-old Namibian singer-songwriter and soulstress based in Windhoek. Her sound balances contemporary soul with Afro-infused rhythms, warm and grounded, intimate and quietly powerful.
Poetry by Keith Vries
Poet of memory and justice
Keith Vries, known on stage as Keith Black, is a Namibian poet, playwright, performer and journalist, and one of the country’s most compelling artistic voices. Through spoken word, theatre and ritual performance, he speaks to memory, history and justice. His poetry will weave through the evening between the courses.
