Nicholas Galloway (1940–1995) was a prominent Namibian watercolorist best known for his evocative depictions of the Namib Desert and its people.

Artistic Profile

Biography
  • Education: He attended Taunton School and was accepted into the Slade School of Art and the Central School of Art in London. However, he chose to study Architecture at Sussex University and in Basel, Switzerland, later earning a National Diploma in Interior Design in London.
  • Move to Namibia: After traveling extensively in the USA, Mexico, and the Far East, he moved to South West Africa (now Namibia), settling in the coastal town of Swakopmund.
  • Death: He died suddenly of a heart attack on June 11, 1995, at Toscanini on the Skeleton Coast.
